information about the festival
location:
new brunswick, nj is a city located between new york city and philadelphia. it is a cultural center of new jersey. many artists live in the city or in nearby area. it is also home for rutgers university and mason gross school of the arts.
the festival won't be limited to only one location, but the visitors will be free to walk from exhibit to exhibit. this will include live performances on the streets and in the parks, walls with live painting and indoor gallery exhibits.

the theme of this festival is street art and everything what's art and found in public spaces: music, spoken word, aerosol art, sculptures, stickers... we are aiming to present the new generation of pop-art from around the world. the local new brunswick avant-garde school from 1960's will be also featured.

this event will be very well promoted by flyers and posters, which are being designed by participating artists and will be distributed throughout new brunswick and central new jersey locations during other art events. they will be also posted in schools and regular flyering locations.
website and online promotion are also main methods of announcing this event. the main artist call and registration are done online and we have been able to attract attention overseas and throughout the whole united states.
newspapers and radio stations will be also announcing this event on local and national level. the list of all media outlets is listed below in the section media exposure.
who is the audience? street art is a modern phenomenon recently getting more and more attention. good examples are the advertisements for fashion companies or layouts of magazines and graphics for tv stations. these companies either hire street artists to work on their campaigns or in some way implement the look and feel of street art. these companies market mostly to young consumers. this type of art finds the biggest audience among young people. this festival is focused on, though not limited to, this young audience, because we feel there are not enough events organized for this age group, and we would like to contribute to the efforts to bring more young people to downtown new brusnwick.
streets 2k5 will be presented as a family event. we are working closely with the local schools and we want younger children to take part in this event. the artists volunteer to work with the children and serve as role models. painting itself won’t be the main goal of this outreach. the festival will be also promoted through the daily targum and rutgers radio stations to over 40 000 university students.
the event is scheduled for the same weekend as the nj folk festival and ag-field day at cook college. these are also family events in walking distance from our locations. the audience will be presented with activities which they can enjoy for the whole day and walk from event to event.
located in central new jersey just five minutes from the nj turnpike exit 9, and directly connected to new york city, philadelphia and newark international airport by train, the streets 2k5 attracts audience from throughout the state, its bordering regions, and from as far away as the west coast, england, spain, france, germany and puerto rico.
